Pledge-Trees-Now-&-Plant-Later 2025-2028 Campaign

South Africa's National Greening Programme is a national initiative focused on promoting environmental sustainability, biodiversity, and community well-being through tree planting and green space development. The initiative aims to contribute to climate change mitigation and adaptation, enhance quality of life, and address environmental degradation. In support of these national efforts, the Western Cape Government: Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning (DEA&DP) though its Pledge-Trees-Now-&-Plant-Later 2025-2028 Campaign (PTN&PL 2025-2028) is appealing to everyone to join this whole of society effort calling on collaboration by government departments, municipalities, civil society organisations, non-government organisations, corporates, students and learners, places of worship and the general public at large to plant trees at a place of your choice like your corporate offices, a public institution, an early childhood development centre, a place of worship, a school, a police station, a clinic, a place of residence and many other similar places alike.

This campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of forests and foster public appreciation for them. Pledgers can participate through the link developed to access the Pledge Form that is also found in the attached campaign flyer. Besides beautification of our surroundings and creating an aesthetically pleasing environment, trees are known as effective carbon sinks, windbreaks that shelter buildings during violent storms, contributors towards reducing pollution by trapping dust particles, and storm water management.

Thank you for joining our Greening efforts in the Western Cape.
