Provincial Minister Bredell is looking for passionate and skilled individuals to join the Western Cape Provincial Coastal Committee (WC: PCC). Whether you want to nominate someone or put your own name forward, this is your chance to make a difference.

What is the WC: PCC?

The WC: PCC is a Committee made up of enthusiastic people working together to protect, manage, and guide the sustainable development of the Western Cape’s beautiful coast. The Committee meets regularly, online or in person, to discuss key coastal issues, opportunities, challenges and to ensure smart, coordinated decisions. It is an advisory Committee established in terms of the section 39 the Integrated Coastal Act.

What does the WC: PCC do?

  • Promoting integrated coastal management in the Western Cape.
  • Advising the Provincial Minister on coastal matters, including policies and management plans.
  • Creating a space for collaboration between government, communities, and experts.
  • Making sure coastal challenges and goals are part of government planning.

Who should be nominated?

The Committee requires people with skills, knowledge, or representation in these areas:

Coastal management expertise. Estuarine management expertise. Local municipalities in the coastal zone. Community-based or non-governmental organisations that operate in the coastal environment. Scientific or research institutions focusing on coastal topics. Organs of state, representatives of government and community groups or bodies who have a material and direct interest in coastal matters including conservation, regulation and use of coastal resources are encouraged.
