This document is a case study about a recovery plan implemented at the Cederberg Municipality that became necessary as a result a financial crisis. Its main purpose is to summarise the various activities and processes that were followed before and during the implementation of the recovery plan.

The purpose of these guidelines is to set uniform standards regarding the job description and the support structure of CFOs (Chief Financial Officers) in provincial departments as it became evident at CFO forum meetings that CFOs are experiencing difficulties in determining their role within departments. For this reason, the Provincial Treasury, in consultation with the Provincial Government: Western Cape's Organisational Development component, developed guidelines in this regard.

Cabinet approved the establishment and roll-out of a uniform Corporate Identity for government on 9 June 2004. These interim National Coat of Arms Corporate Identity Guidelines were developed by Government Communications (GCIS) and the Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) to guide departments in the application of the Government Brand until a comprehensive Corporate Identity Manual for Government becomes available.
