Renewable Energy (and Water)
The Western Cape Government has also prioritised energy security as a game changer over the next few years in response to the current energy challenges facing SA. The aim is to reduce the province’s electricity demand from Eskom by 10% over the next few years by both savings through energy efficiency and alternative, low carbon generation. The main focus areas under the game changer are energy efficiency, load management, energy generation through rooftop solar photovoltaic panels (PV) and the importation of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) for power plants and industrial use.
