Your vehicle needs to be registered and licensed by the City of Cape Town to comply with national legislation. You can do so at any of the City's MVR offices.

The centre is conveniently located in Fish Hoek and is open week days, making it easy for you to register and license your motor vehicle.

What you'll need:

  • your identity document (ID),
  • the vehicle's registration certificate, and
  • a letter of authority from the South African Bureau of Standards.

Complete an ELF1 (Application for Special Classification of Motor Vehicle in respect of Licence Fees) form. The form is available at the registering authority.
