Western Cape Government secures fourth consecutive sweep of 100% unqualified audits for all departments and entities

01 October 2026

The Western Cape Government has secured a fourth consecutive sweep of 100% unqualified audit opinions across all provincial departments and public entities.

The latest audit outcomes by the Auditor-General of South Africa show that no Western Cape department or entity received a qualified, adverse or disclaimed audit opinion. This accomplishment places the Western Cape as the strongest-performing government administration in the country.

This achievement reflects the continued commitment of public servants across the Western Cape Government to maintaining the highest standards of governance while ensuring that public funds are managed responsibly and in the best interests of our residents.

Western Cape Minister of Finance, Deidré Baartman, said, "These audit outcomes provide residents with confidence that public funds are being managed responsibly and transparently. More importantly, sound financial governance enables government to deliver quality services, create an environment for economic growth and support job creation. It is this foundation that allows us to improve the lives of Western Cape residents."

Premier Alan Winde said, "Maintaining strong audit outcomes year after year requires capable institutions and a culture of accountability. The Western Cape Government will continue to strengthen governance, safeguard public resources and ensure that every rand is spent in a manner that delivers value to our residents.”

The Western Cape Government extends its appreciation to the dedicated officials across all its departments and public entities whose efforts have contributed to this achievement. Their commitment to good governance, sound financial management and public service excellence continues to build confidence in provincial institutions, creates an environment for economic growth and supports the delivery of quality services to residents.
