Public transport passenger safety

Using public transport for your daily commute to and from work or school can outdo travelling by car in a variety of ways:

  • Cost-effective: Besides the cost of petrol, you won’t have to pay for parking and car maintenance expenses will be reduced.
  • Convenient: Public transport operators will supply you with a schedule so that you can plan ahead.
  • Eco-friendly: This report suggests that using public transport can encourage people out of their cars and provide a cost-effective way to tackle climate change.
  • Accessible: Metrorail, MyCITI and Go George are disabled-friendly.
  • Time-saving: Travel by train or buses like MyCITI, who use special lanes, to avoid peak hour traffic.

Safety and security is a priority for Western Cape public transport operators. They’ve established communication channels for passengers to feel safer when using their facilities.
