Contract No. C1088.01 periodic maintenance of R326 (MR267) between Stanford and N2/ Riviersonderend (KM 0.34 to KM 50.58).

Accommodation of traffic is to be carried out by closing off one lane of traffic at a time and accommodating unidirectional traffic on the other lane.

The maximum length of any single section of road allowed to be closed half-width shall be 4 km. The number of sections under construction at any one time will be limited to four (4), and spaces of at least 3 km in length in which the entire road width is open to traffic will be provided between the construction areas.

To ensure the safety of the travelling public and the construction workers, the speed will be reduced to 60 km/hour along working sections. The stop-and-go closures and other working areas will be clearly signed and pre-warning signs will also be erected.

The Contract has been awarded to Actophambili Roads (Pty) Ltd in October 2021. The Contract period is approximately 19 months, including public holidays and year-end breaks. The completion date is therefore May 2023. Traffic will be accommodated on the existing road and signalled oneway traffic will be necessary. It is a provision of the Contract that traffic shall be accommodated with the least delay and discomfort to the public. No full road closures will be allowed. The safety and convenience of the travelling public are of utmost importance and effort will be made to ensure that all temporary road signs, cones, flagmen and speed controls are maintained and are effective, and that courtesy is extended to the public at all times. The Contractor is required to make use of approved methods to control the movement of his equipment and vehicles so as not to constitute a hazard on public roads. The public is requested to be patient and exercise caution when using the road. The speed limit in closures is 60km/h. There will be no overtaking in the construction zones. The travelling public is urged to stick to the speed limit for their own safety and those of the Construction Workers. Speed law enforcement may be done from time to time to ensure the public is adhering to the speed restrictions which have been put in place.
