Minister Mitchell sworn in as Minister of Transport and Public Works

The Western Cape Deputy Judge President this morning conducted the swearing in ceremony of the newly-appointed Minister of Transport and Public Works, Daylin Mitchell.

Premier Alan Winde announced the appointment yesterday.

Minister Mitchell has been a member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament since 2015 and served in various positions including that of Deputy Chief Whip of the Majority Party, the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Transport and Public Works, and the Conduct Committee for Members of Parliament. He previously served as the Chairperson of both the Standing Committee on the Premier and on the Constitutional Matters and Petitions Committee.

Minister Mitchell said: β€œIt is my honour to serve the people of the Western Cape under the leadership of Premier Winde. I am committed to work with all spheres of government and ensure we deliver services to the people. I will work tirelessly to ensure our government leaves no stone unturned in our pursuit of delivery, dignity and jobs to all our residents. I owe it to the citizens of the Western Cape.”

β€œI will spend the next few days engaging the Department before finalizing and communicating my strategic priority areas,” said Minister Mitchell.
