Provincial Minister of Infrastructure Tertuis Simmers welcomes investigation into alleged criminal activities involving state officials

It is with concern and dismay that we learned of the search and seizure operation on the offices of the Mayoral Committee member (MMC) for Human Settlements in the City of Cape Town, Councillor Malusi Booi. I welcome all investigations into matters relating to the integrity of public service officials.

We live in a time where we have seen the consequences of corruption at State-Owned Enterprises (SOE). Prevention and curtailing of similar acts in the Western Cape remains a top priority of this administration. We will follow the proceedings of the investigations closely and will not make any pronouncements prematurely.

While we are highly concerned about the allegations, as the Provincial Minister of Infrastructure, I would like to reassure citizens that we remain committed to delivering adequate housing opportunities that restore the hope and dignity of all our residents.

Any further enquiries on the matter can be directed to Colonel Andre Traut – 083 3001 752.
