In April 2022, the Department of Transport and Public Works (DTPW) finished a R7m project to upgrade several access-controlled areas across Groote Schuur hospital which were in a state of functional fatigue and disrepair.
The purpose of the project was to address all the system shortcomings by upgrading the system components, installing new components and to extend the system network of the access control system.
