Information on Bus Services

Golden Arrow currently provides bus services for Cape Town. Bus timetables can be requested via email or accessed via the Golden Arrow website.

Information on Metered Taxi and Tourist Transport

Various transport facilities are available for tourists visiting the Western Cape. These include tour buses, shuttles, metered taxis and chartered services. If you would like to find out more information about metered taxis and transport in the province, feel free to contact the Transport Information Centre (TIC). The TIC is a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week call centre service that provides residents of and visitors to Cape Town with information on public transport in Cape Town.

Metro Trans Information Centre Website

This website contains information on public transport services in the Cape Metropole. The schedules section contains times and costs for buses, trains, taxis, special needs transport and inter city transport.

MetroRail Website

The Commuter section of the site contains information on train services, news events and commuter forums. Detailed information for the Western Cape can be accessed through the Cape Metrorail site.

National Travel Survey

Statistics South Africa did a National Travel Survey on behalf of the National Department of Transport from 25 May to 20 June 2003. The survey provided an accurate analysis of the population's transport habits broken down by gender, modes of transport, rural and urban areas, and local authority planning zones (e.g. townships and suburbs within Johannesburg). The Survey interviewed around 50 000 households nationwide to determine their travel patterns and which modes of transport they use to get to work, hospitals and schools.

Rail services are provided by Metrorail. The Metrorail Western Cape website provides up-to-date timetable, fee and route information.
