Western Cape DSD and SASSA discuss strengthening cooperation
The Western Cape Department of Social Development (DSD) met yesterday with the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) in the Western Cape, marking the first formal engagement between the two organisations in more than a year. The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration to improve services for grant beneficiaries.
The Department welcomed the appointment of the new SASSA Regional Executive Manager for the Western Cape, Mrs Lungelwa Sigasana Makaula, and looks forward to working closely with her and her team.
Western Cape Minister of Social Development, Jaco Londt, said both organisations agreed that mutual respect and cooperation are essential to ensuring residents remain at the centre of service delivery.
SASSA outlined a number of operational challenges and the measures it is implementing to improve the client experience, including expanded digital services, improved queue management, outreach programmes and extended operating hours where needed. DSD will support these efforts where possible.
The two organisations also agreed to hold quarterly meetings to strengthen coordination and improve service delivery.
