Launch of GBV ambassadors programme & DSD mobile office in Ceres
The Western Cape Department of Social Development’s (DSD) Gender-Based Violence Ambassador programme is gaining momentum.
On Monday, 2 December 2024, the programme will be officially launched in Ceres – the fifth of its kind in the province.
GBV ambassadors – who are trained volunteers from the community – will provide information about support services available to residents for the intervention and prevention of GBV. It is part of the Western Cape Government’s commitment to address this scourge 365 days a year.
On the same day, the Department will also launch the third DSD Mobile Office in the province. This fully-equipped facility will serve the people of the Cape Winelands/Overberg region, especially those living in rural areas where it can be difficult to access DSD services.
Provincial Minister of Social Development Jaco Londt will be joined by various officials from local government and members of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament.
