Promotion of Sport and Recreation among Senior Citizens

Elderly people also have the right to quality of life. This can be improved if they have the opportunity to take part in recreation activities that are healthy and enjoyable.

Sport services hosts the Senior Golden Games for these aged individuals with youthful spirits. They work with the Department of Social Development to organise six regional games, one provincial and one inter-provincial game.

The participants, aged between 60 and 100 take part in such activities as "ball-over-head pass" and the 500m or 800m brisk walk.
