Export Incentives Information

Export Marketing and Investment Assistance (EMIA)  is an incentive scheme administered by the Department of Trade and Industry. The purpose of assistance under the EMlA scheme is to partially compensate exporters for costs incurred in respect of activities aimed at developing export markets for South African products and services abroad. The EMIA also aims to recruit new foreign direct investment into South Africa.

Enterprises eligible to benefit from this incentive are:

  • South African manufactures and exporters;
  • South African export trading houses representing at least three SMMEs or businesses owned by Historical Disadvantaged Individuals (HDIs);
  • South African commission agents representing at least three SMMEs/HDI-owned businesses; and
  • South African exports councils, industry associations and JAGs representing at least five South African entities.
