National Symbols Programme in Schools

Start: 1 June 2007
End: 31 July 2010

During the 2010 FIFA World Cup? the South African flag will be raised and the anthem will be sung. It is vitally important that everyone will be able to not only identify these symbols, but be familiar with them and also take pride in them. The 2010 World Cup Unit holds workshops on our national symbols in schools. In these workshops, learners get to know about the flag, the national anthem, the coat of arms as well as the National Orders. They are taught to sing the national anthem with pride. As part of the programme learners were asked to design posters featuring the national symbols.
