Premier’s Council on Skills 2017

The Premier’s Council on Skills was held on the 30th May 2017 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in Cape Town. The theme of the event was “the Western Cape is open for business” where employers were encouraged to open their doors for work placements for apprentices.
 
Three industry partners from the Tourism and Hospitality; Agri-processing; and ICT/BB sectors presented on how skills development has benefitted their businesses.Cover
An Apprenticeship Game Changer brochure was distributed to all attendees with more information on how to get involved covering topics such:
  • Take on workplace-based learners such as Apprentices
  • Support career awareness campaigns
  • Get involved in the Technical Advisory Forums or TAF’s
  • Support Maths in TVET Colleges and Schools
  • Support the development of Recognition of Prior Learning Toolkits
  • Support and participate in the identification of specialised training needs
  • Support mentorship training of employees
  • Participate in the Dual System pilot programmes
