City of Cape Town Disaster Risk Management Centre

Description:

Disaster Risk Management aims to identify, prevent or reduce the occurrence of disasters, and to soften the impact of those disasters that cannot be prevented.

After major incidents it is our role to ensure that communities and victims are assisted in recovering from the impact of disasters. During major incidents and disasters we perform a co-ordination role, ensuring that multiple emergency and essential services work in an integrated and efficient manner.

The Disaster Risk Management Centre (DRMC) is a branch of the City Emergency Services Department which in turn is part of the Safety & Security Directorate of the City of Cape Town.
