Western Cape to Get a New Police Commissioner

Today I have officially been informed by the National Police Commissioner, General Bheki Cele that Provincial Police Commissioner Mzwandile Petros has been transferred with immediate effect and will take up his new position as Provincial Commissioner of Gauteng on 1 September 2010.

I will shortly be meeting with General Cele to discuss the smooth continuation of strategic and operational matters and trust that the candidate, who ultimately replaces Lieutenant General Petros, will be fit for purpose and committed to service delivery of the highest standard to the people of the Western Cape.

I would like to wish General Petros well in his new position as Provincial Police Commissioner of Gauteng.
