Urgent Media Appeal: Missing Learner

9 November 2010

It is with great concern that I have just been informed that Lumka Lengisi, a seventeen (17) year old learner from Noluthando School for the Deaf, has been declared missing.

Lumka was last seen in a school bus (Lansdowne Road - Khayelitsha - ext. Greenpoint) yesterday morning and has since disappeared. Searches by the police, community and educators to find Lumka have been unsuccessful.

I urge all media to help the South African Police Service (SAPS) in their search by appealing to communities for information.

Lumka is a seventeen (17) year old black female deaf learner.

She was last wearing a navy skirt, a white blouse, and a navy long-sleeved jersey. (There is no school emblem on the jersey)

She has shoulder-length hair and is one point five metres (1.5m) tall.

If you have any information on her whereabouts please contact:
Captain Anneke van der Vyver
Cell: 082 302 8118

The Western Cape Education Department is committed to doing all it can do to bring Lumka safely home and we appeal to the whole Province to assist us in this urgent appeal.
