Twenty Six Arrested Over the Weekend During Provincial Traffic 'Safely Home' Operations

Provincial Traffic Services arrested twenty five (25) drunk drivers, one (1) person for the possession of drugs, during operations over the past weekend.

During these operations:

  • two thousand two hundred and thirty four (2234) vehicles were stopped.
  • one thousand three hundred and twenty seven (1327) drivers were screened for alcohol use.
  • three hundred and thirty eight (338) fines were issued.

Provincial Traffic Law Enforcement officials were out on full force and will continue with these operations, till we have compliance with traffic laws.

The past week Provincial Traffic stopped an checked several school busses across the province to evaluate if the drivers and the vehicles are fit according to what the law prescribes.

During these operations:

  • two hundred and forty four (244) school busses were stopped and checked.
  • thirty five (35) fines were issued to drivers who were acting contrary to their permit conditions.
  • nine (9) drivers were fined for failing to keep their driving licence on them, and for failing to produce a Professional Drivers Permit (PrDP).
  • ten (10) School busses were suspended do to an unroadworthy condition.
