Traffic Disruptions at the Intersection of Marine Drive and Milner Road

This will allow for work to be conducted on the new public transport corridor of the City's Integrated Rapid Transit (IRT) system along the R27 from Milner Road to Racecourse Road.

Engineers will commence work after the morning rush hour peak on Friday 23 April and will finish their work before the morning rush hour period on Monday 26 April 2010.

Motorists wishing to make use of this intersection should please note the following alternative routes that will be in place to accommodate the flow of traffic. Directional information signage will be erected as well:

• Road users will not be able to access Marine Drive from Milner Road. Instead, they will be directed South along Marine Drive Service Road and back on to Marine Drive at Neptune Street.
• Road users moving in a Northerly direction will not be able to turn right into Milner Road. Instead, they must use the detour by turning right into Neptune Street, and continue along Marine Drive Service Road to reach Milner Road.
• Road users moving in a Southerly direction will not be able to turn left into Milner Road. Instead, they must continue along Marine Drive and make a left turn into Neptune Street. They can continue back along Marine Drive Service Road, to reach Milner Road.
• The City apologises to residents for the inconvenience and thanks them for their patience during construction. The City has tried to reduce the inconvenience by ensuring that alternative routes are available during this period and that the closure happens out of peak traffic periods.
