SAS Wingfield Naval Unit to March Through Streets of Goodwood

The SAS Wingfield Naval Unit, based in Goodwood, is to exercise its right to the freedom of Goodwood with a military parade on Friday, 18 September 2009.

On the arrival of the 250-strong parade at the Goodwood Civic Centre, De Grendel Sub-Council Chairperson, Councillor James Vos, will deliver the keynote address.

The Freedom of Goodwood was bestowed on SAS Wingfield by the former Goodwood Municipality in 1986.

Street closures
A number of streets will be fully or partially closed during the rehearsals between 18:00 and 21:30 on 17 September. The same streets will be closed between 08:00 and 12:00 on the day of the parade. These are Voortrekker Road (left-hand lane in the direction of Parow), all streets linking up with Voortrekker Road between Townsend and Church Streets and Church Street, Alice Street, Merriman Street, MacDonald Street and Dirkie Uys Street around the Goodwood Civic Centre.

Members of the media are invited to the parade.
