SAPS Arrest Suspect Linked to Tom Queba Murder

18 June 2014

Donald Grant, Minister of Transport and Public Works, welcomes the arrest of a suspect linked to Tom Queba’s murder and congratulates the South African Police Service (SAPS). As many will remember, Mr Queba played a pivotal role as lead negotiator on behalf of the taxi industry in the George Mobility Project.

"The George Integrated Public Transport Network (GIPTN) is one of the key projects for my department. The murder of Mr Queba threatened to derail this whole initiative. While we cannot bring him back to life, it is encouraging to learn that an arrest has been made in such a short time,"  said Minister Grant

The quick arrest of this suspect is a result of cooperation among all levels of government, and included members of the community.

"Now that SAPS have done their part, I hope the criminal justice system will handle this matter with similar efficiency and urgency in order to finalise this matter as soon as possible,” concluded Minister Grant.
