Residents in Delft develop innovative tech businesses

5 June 2017

Tomorrow (5 June 2017), as part of his Youth Month campaign, Alan Winde, Minister of Economic Opportunities, will visit Delft where residents are building innovative businesses on the back of the Western Cape Government’s Public Wi-Fi project.

In 2013, DEDAT opened the call for proposals for NPOs to access grant funding to set up limited free Wi-Fi zones in areas with poor internet access. Home of Compassion Ministries in Delft was one of three successful organisations selected to implement a pilot project for a period of three years. Tomorrow (5 June 2017) Minister Winde will visit the Home of Compassion Ministries to discuss the business and skills initiatives which were initiated following the roll-out of Wi-Fi in the area, as well as the success of the project.
