Repairs to flood-damaged roads near Worcester and De Doorns

25 August 2016

The Department of Transport and Public Works is making good progress with repairs to flood-damaged roads and associated structures near Worcester and De Doorns. Work on this R14 million project started in February 2016 and is expected to have been completed early next year.

Repairs caused by the floods of 2013/14 are required at 12 sites. The contract provides for the rehabilitation of two precast culverts, two cast in-situ culverts, two approach slab repairs, as well as river and road embankment works at six sites.

Motorists should plan for longer travelling times on roads where repair work is under way. Every attempt will be made to facilitate the flow of traffic and minimise delays.

Ten percent of the total value of the contract will be spent on targeted enterprises and 5 000 person-days of work will be created for people from the Cape Winelands municipal area.
