Provincial Minister urges continued support for local football

15 September 2010

"Continue to support football Friday". These are the words of new Provincial Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Dr Ivan Meyer, on the eve of Ajax Cape Towns clash with Platinum Stars on Friday, 17 September 2010 at the iconic Cape Town Stadium.

During the recent World Cup, Capetonians came out in their droves to support football and certainly proved to the rest of the country that it is a myth that the people of the Western Cape do not support football. Football fans proved this to be untrue with the recent double header which was attended by 20 000 spectators and they are encouraged to do so again this coming Friday. "Let us continue in the wonderful football spirit that was brought about by Football Friday and once more, let Cape Town stand up, blow our vuvuzelas, and paint our faces in support of local football, says Dr. Meyer.

According to the organisers, Ajax Cape Town, a three tier ticketing system will be implemented and the pricing is as follows, R80 (West Stand- Blue), R60 (East Stand - Red) R40 (North and South Stands-Yellow and Green). Tickets will be available from Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets from 12h00 on Wednesday, 15 September 2010.

Dr. Meyer is also encouraged by the undertaking given by the organisers of this Fridays match to promote a family friendly environment by ensuring reserved seating thereby enabling families to sit together.
