Premier Winde and Minister Madikizela to launch Blue Dot Taxi Pilot Project

Premier Alan Winde together with Transport and Public Works Minister, Bonginkosi Madikizela, will on Thursday 4 March 2020, launch the Blue Dot Taxi pilot project at the Gene Louw Traffic College in Brackenfell.

The Blue Dot Taxi pilot project is a ground-breaking initiative which will see the participation of approximately 1 300 minibus taxis distributed across the Western Cape in a new incentive programme that will reward improved driving behaviour and higher service quality, while encouraging reduced instances of illegal operations and conflict.

During the launch, the Premier and the Minister will explain how the project will respond to the urgent need for improving public transport in the Western Cape, considering the dysfunctional passenger rail system, rising congestion and other challenges.
