MyCiTi Shuttle to Operate for Soccer Match at Cape Town Stadium: 17 September 2010

14 September 2010

Cape Town soccer enthusiasts that will attend the match between Ajax Cape Town's Urban Warriors and Platinum Stars at the Cape Town Stadium on Friday evening are reminded that the MyCiTi stadium shuttle service between the Civic Centre and the Stadium will be operational.

The match kick-off is at 19:30 and 20 000 tickets have been made available for the match.

The MyCiTi stadium shuttle, which proved to be extremely popular during the 2010 FIFA World Cup(tm) to travel to and from the stadium, will operate between 17:30 and 22:30 on Friday. The bus ride will be free, on presentation of a valid match ticket.

Spectators are advised to make use of this shuttle service, or to walk along the fan walk from Cape Town Station to the Stadium, as there will be no parking or drop-and-go facilities available at the Stadium and no parking on the Green Point Common. Only persons who pre-book parking bays for people with disabilities will be allowed to park at the Stadium.

Ticket holders are advised to either park at the V&A Waterfront or at legal parking spaces in the CBD, or to use public transport for which normal fares will apply. "No Parking" restrictions will also be strictly enforced in Green Point and Mouille Point.

Other than the Stadium shuttle, no additional public transport or match day services have been arranged and Park-and-Rides and their related services will not be operational for the event. Although the parking areas at rail stations will be accessible, routine services from Cape Town station end before the final whistle of the match is blown.

Spectators should contact the Transport Information Centre on 0800 65 64 63 for information on routine bus services which will be operating after the match.

Road closures will be enforced in Fritz Sonnenberg Road from Mc Donalds to Vlei Road, and between Granger Bay Boulevard and Portswood Road.
