Minstrels' Activities: Response to Complaints

18 January 2007
The Arts & Culture Department of the City of Cape Town regrets the noise pollution and other nuisance caused to the residents of Cape Town by the Minstrels' cultural events. We are pleased with the support expressed by residents and other interested parties for the authorised Minstrels' activities

As part of our initiative to keep the community informed of the local carnival activities, notice is hereby given of the following approved Minstrels' carnival activities:

Date: 20 and 27 January 2007
Time: 10pm to 2am
Location: Cape Town CBD

As of today, no other applications were received. The City is committed to encouraging groups to restrict their carnival activities to weekends only. In future, a protocol plan will be developed to ensure that all stakeholders are actively engaged.

The City takes the complaints of its citizens seriously and welcomes any contribution that will enhance the Arts & Culture activities.
