Minister Plato and SAPS to conduct safety Outreach in Uitsig

Today, 16 February 2016, Western Cape Minister of Community Safety, Dan Plato, accompanied by the South African Police Service (SAPS) Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula, will conduct a safety outreach campaign in Uitsig.

Minister Plato and Lt Gen Jula will be conducting door-to-door visits through the neighbourhood to engage with residents around their safety concerns and fears in the area.

Minister Plato has received numerous complaints over recent weeks regarding general safety in Uitsig with increased reporting of gang and drug related crime and shootings.

In 2016, Minister Plato is looking forward to working closer with SAPS and law enforcement in the province to ensure that targeted interventions are implemented in partnership with our communities to help ensure sustainable safer areas.

There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews.
