Minister Madikizela to Handover Houses to most vulnerable citizens in McGregor

Minister Bonginkosi Madikizela will on Tuesday, 27 June 2017 hand over 60 houses to most deserving beneficiaries in McGregor in the Langeberg Municipality.

Four of the 60 beneficiaries Minister will hand over houses to are 84 year-old Maria Wagenaar, 81-year-old Johannes Jacobs November, 75-year-old Sarah Johanna Arendorf and 74 year-old Maria Cornelia Pillay.                           

Beneficiaries of this Integrated Residential Development Project (IRDP) are residents of the informal settlements and backyarders of McGregor.

The primary objectives of this housing development are to address the living conditions of these residents and to provide a sustainable and desirable housing solutions while maintaining the heritage status of the town.

In order to realise the Department’s policy of prioritising vulnerable citizens, this project will have approximately 500 top structures which will accommodate wheelchair-bound beneficiaries and people with other forms of disabilities.
