Minister Madikizela to Hand over Title Deeds in Saron, Tulbagh

13 May 2012

The Minister of Human Settlements, Bonginkosi Madikizela, will hand over 147 title deeds in Saron, Witzenberg municipality, on Monday, 14 May 2012. Eleven of the beneficiaries are pensioners, with the oldest being 73-year-old Mr Willem Kotze.

Saron is situated about 30 km from Porterville, and was officially proclaimed a town in December 1929. Some of the residents have been waiting for their title deeds for 30 years to become owners of their property.

The department has a strategic objective to ensure the rights and responsibilities of beneficiaries. The transfer of title deeds is an important component in fulfilling this mandate, as it gives the beneficiaries the rights of property owners. This enables them to take out loans and to get further access to finance if needed, as well as providing the peace of mind from security of tenure.
