Minister Botha to Open Newly Constructed Grassy Park Community Day Centre

29 February 2012

Western Cape Minister of Health, Theuns Botha, will officially re-open the newly built Grassy Park Community Day Centre on Tuesday, 6 March 2012.

The Grassy Park CDC was established in 1960 and serviced a small confined community of Grassy Park and the Philippi farm areas. Over the years, this area has expanded to a population of 35 000. From a traditionally middle class area, it has grown into a community that remains 80% dependent on public health.

The facility sees approximately 3 500 to 4 000 patients per month and services communities from the Philippi farm areas, Fairways, Zeekoevlei, part of Parkwood Estate and the whole of Grassy Park. Healthcare workers consult more than 80 booked patients and more than 20 unbooked patients per day.
