Media Alert: Update on N1 Accident

Nineteen people lost their lives and 17 were hospitalised on Tuesday, 15 November 2011, as a result of an accident between two minibus taxis and a truck near Prins Albert on the N1. To date, two of the 17 patients are still in hospital. One of the patients, a female, is stable and recovering at George Hospital. The other patient, a 60-year-old female, is still ventilated but stable and in a satisfactory condition at Tygerberg Hospital.

All autopsies have been completed and 19 bodies have been positively identified. To date, five bodies have been handed over to their families.
