Media Alert: Minister Schafer to Launch Western Cape Provincial Teaching Awards

Tomorrow, 24 June 2014, Minister Debbie Schafer will be launching the 15th Annual Western Cape Provincial Teaching Awards at The Settlers High School.

 

The Provincial Teaching Awards recognises excellence and high levels of professionalism, and provides the education fraternity with the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of outstanding teachers. Furthermore the exceptional work done by teachers in general is highlighted.

 

Tomorrow, Minister Schafer will be encouraging all members of school communities to participate in the nomination process for this year’s awards.

 

Minister Schafer will be meeting Ms Wendy Horn, Winner of 1st prize in the category of Science Teaching in 2013, and will ask her how she felt about winning the award last year and what it meant, as an educator, to be nominated by her school community.

 

Media are invited to attend.

 

The WCED hopes to receive a record number of nominations this year, and we will appreciate any support from the media in highlighting the call for nominations for these awards.

 

Excellence should always be acknowledged and celebrated – especially when it involves the teaching and development of our youth.
