Media alert: Matric results 2020

Please note the following in preparation for the release of the 2020 NSC results.

Monday 22 February 2021:

• The announcement of the 2020 NSC results and top learners by the national minister takes place between 16h00 and 17h00 (see attached flier).
• Western Cape Minister of Education, Debbie Schäfer, will celebrate with the top learners in our province in the Department of the Premier boardroom. Minister Schafer will release a statement on the performance of our province shortly after the announcement.
• Unfortunately, this will not be an open media opportunity for all media houses due to Covid-19 protocols. However, a WhatsApp group has been created for media personnel covering the Western Cape results, where photos, videos, statements and soundbites from the event will be posted. Kindly send your name, publication/media house, and cellphone number to Kerry on 084 210 3003 if you wish to be added.

Tuesday 23 February 2021:

• Learners will receive their results at their schools from midday onward.
• Minister Schafer will visit a school in Cape Town for the release of the candidate and school results (school to be confirmed on Monday). This will be a media opportunity, noting that strict Covid-19 protocols apply.
• The Minister will release a statement on the performance of our Education District results and other highlights.

Tuesday 9 March 2021

Minister Schäfer and the WCED will be celebrating the Western Cape’s top achievers in the 2020 National Senior Certificate Examinations on Tuesday 9 March 2021. Details to follow in due course.
