Mayor's Outreach Programme is Taking the City to the People

14 September 2009
The Executive Mayor Dan Plato will today embark on a community outreach programme, "Taking the City to the People", where he aims to hear what residents feel are their most important service delivery needs.

The City of Cape Town is fully committed to engaging with its residents about what they feel should be done to further promote service delivery in Cape Town. As part of this, the City will also explain to residents the limitations within which it operates, so that residents can understand that compromises need to be made. This in-depth communication will allow an ongoing dialogue between residents and the City's leadership so that the best possible outcome can be reached under the existing constraints.

The Mayor invites all residents to attend a public meeting in their area. At the meeting residents will be able to highlight major issues that are affecting their community as a whole. For personal concerns, residents are encouraged to utilise the City's existing political structures such as Councillors, Subcouncils and Ward Forums.

The Mayor's Outreach Programme will run until 3 December 2009.

The meetings for the coming week are as follows:

DATE TIME VANUE ADDRESS
15 September 19:00 - 20:30 Avondale Civic Centre C/O Grosvendor and Gothenburg Avenue
