Joe Slovo Residents to Elect New Project Steering Committee

14 October 2016

On Saturday, 15 October 2016, The Western Cape Department of Human Settlements will facilitate a meeting to elect a new Project Steering Committee (PSC) for the N2 Gateway, Joe Slovo Phase 3, housing development.

The intervention follows a meeting held on 3 September 2016 where residents expressed their unhappiness with the previous Project Steering Committee. The Western Cape Human Settlements’ Head of Department, Mr Thando Mguli, undertook to look into the matter and resolve any issues in order for the development to proceed.

On 01 October 2016, Mguli convened a workshop with all stakeholders of the project, including the previous Project Steering Committee, to discuss and review the functionality of the Joe Slovo Project Steering Committee. In that workshop it was resolved that the previous Project Steering Committee must be disbanded and a new one elected by the beneficiaries of the Joe Slovo Project.

Saturday’s meeting will be supported by the Housing Development Agency (HDA) who is developing the project.

The Project Steering Committee is responsible for representing the community and providing feedback during the process of the housing development project.
