Department Recruits New Traffic Officer Students

15 June 2015

The Department of Transport and Public Works will be recruiting 30 Traffic Students for a 12 month training course, which will start on 20 July 2015 at the Gene Louw Traffic College in Brackenfell. This is a great opportunity for all those who want to become Traffic Officers.

A senior certificate or equivalent qualification and one year or more driving experience will be an advantage for applicants. Applicants younger than 35 years of age, and those without a criminal record, will receive preference. Successful candidates must obtain their own accommodation while attending the course. Successful applicants will also have to undergo extensive physical training whilst at the College. A training stipend of R5 000 per month will be paid for the duration of the training period.

Part of the College’s accomplishments is full accreditation with the Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority (SASSETA), Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) and South African Police Service (SAPS) as an official institution to facilitate and manage firearm training.

Provincial Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said in addition to ensuring that a professional and effective traffic management service is provided in the Western Cape, the course also contributes to valuable job opportunities for the future. “We encourage dedicated candidates with a passion for road traffic safety to apply. Not only would they strengthen our traffic force in the province, but could expect to benefit from various opportunities associated with the training,” said Africa.

Applications close on 19 June at 16:00. Only hand delivery or postage method can be used. For more information on how to apply and to get application forms, visit Gene Louw Traffic College's website
