Accident on De La Rey and Fransie van Zyl Roads

One fatality, one critical and eight injured in an accident on De La Rey and Fransie van Zyl at 4h30 this morning. According to Metro Rescue staff on the scene, a large truck impacted a small mini bus, pushing it into the fence of a private property.

Coming from Voortrekker Road towards De La Rey Road, the small mini bus jumped a red robot and collided with the dairy truck. A female passenger sitting in the second row from the back of the mini bus was dead on arrival and a woman next to her in critical condition. Six of the passengers were trapped in the mini bus and removed with the Jaws of Life and Metro Rescue support. The driver and passenger of truck were unharmed.

Metro Emergency Medical Services received the call at 05h04, sent out five Metro Rescue and ambulance teams with full technical support and the Jaws of Life, arriving on the scene by 05h14. Casualties were then escorted to Tygerberg Hospital in Bellville. The South African Police Service (SAPS) can be contacted for further information.
