2014 Cape Town International Jazz Festival

11 March 2014

The 15th annual Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF) will once again thrill jazz lovers with world class music on 28 and 29 March 2014. The star-studded line-up includes first-rate international acts like afro-soul jazz singer Erykah Badu as well as a number of top local instrumentalists, singers and bands.

The festival is marketed as “Africa’s grandest gathering” for very good reason. Its winning formula brings together more than 40 international and local artists to perform over two days on five different stages. Some of the festival’s stars can be seen in action at the free community concert which takes place at Greenmarket Square on 26 March from 17:00.

The national Department of Arts and Culture, supported by Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS), is supporting the music training workshops offered by the festival organisers. This development component clearly shows the festival’s commitment to supporting the local music industry.

This year’s event coincides with the celebrations of South Africa’s 20th year of freedom and democracy. According to Paul Mashatile, Minister of Arts and Culture, "the Cape Town International Jazz Festival is a great reflection of how far we have come as a nation. The festival showcases our brilliant local talent, while also attracting leading jazz artists from all over the world. This has allowed the CTIJF to help grow a larger skills base within our creative sector, which, in turn, helps strengthen and celebrate our cultural diversity."

Please note that tickets are sold out.
