Thusong Outreach brings government services closer to Murraysburg residents
The Department of Local Government, in collaboration with the Beaufort West Municipality, hosted a two-day Thuong Outreach programme on 24 and 25 June 2026 at the Murraysburg Town Hall.
The outreach initiative aimed to bring government services closer to the people and improve access to service delivery for residents of Murraysburg and surrounding areas. Various government departments and stakeholders participated in the programme, providing information, assistance, and support on a range of services.
Community members attended the outreach in large numbers and were afforded the opportunity to engage directly with officials, raise concerns, and access essential government services without having to travel long distances.
The outreach demonstrated the government's commitment to responsive service delivery and to ensuring that communities in rural areas receive the support and services they need.
Departments and entities that rendered services included the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), the South African Police Service (SAPS), the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), the Department of Home Affairs (DHA), the Road Accident Fund (RAF), Statistics South Africa (Stats SA), the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform (DRDLR), the Department of Health (DoH), and the Western Cape Department of Education (WCED).
Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) also participated, offering support and information on various community development initiatives.
