Municipal ICT Managers Drive Digital Innovation for Better Service Delivery

15 October 2026 | by

Municipal ICT managers from across the Western Cape are coming together today for the Western Cape Government Municipal ICT Managers Forum, taking place at the Overstrand Municipality Auditorium on 15 and 16 October 2026.

Hosted as a collaborative platform between the Western Cape Government and municipalities, the Forum brings together approximately 40 delegates to engage on strategic ICT matters and explore how technology can strengthen local government and improve the way services are delivered to communities.

The two-day Forum provides an opportunity for municipalities to share experiences, exchange best practices and discuss emerging technologies, policy and legislative developments, broadband initiatives and other ICT matters affecting local government.

The forum also highlighting the growing role of technology in improving operational efficiency and strengthening engagement between municipalities and residents.

Siyabonga Mngxe, Deputy Director: District and Local Performance Monitoring, says collaboration and knowledge sharing remain important as municipalities navigate an increasingly digital environment.

“The Forum creates an important space for municipalities to learn from one another, share practical solutions and explore how technology can be used to improve service delivery and strengthen engagement with our communities.”

The Western Cape Government established the Municipal ICT Forum in support of municipalities in line with Section 154 of the Constitution, which calls for national and provincial governments to support and strengthen the capacity of municipalities.

Through ongoing engagement, the Forum aims to promote effective and innovative use of technology across municipalities while strengthening cooperation between the different spheres of government.

As municipalities continue to respond to changing citizen expectations and technological developments, the Forum provides a platform to turn ICT knowledge and innovation into practical solutions that support more efficient, accessible and responsive local government.
