Minister Bredell praises Witzenberg's Investment in infrastructure and service delivery

Western Cape Minister of Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, Anton Bredell, today conducted an oversight visit to Witzenberg Municipality, where he inspected several key infrastructure and development projects in Tulbagh, Wolseley and Ceres, including the official opening of the upgraded Ceres 11kV Substation. 

The visit showcased the municipality's ongoing investment in infrastructure aimed at strengthening service delivery, supporting economic growth and improving the quality of life of residents. It also demonstrated the power of collaboration between the Western Cape Government, Witzenberg Municipality and the communities of Witzenberg in delivering infrastructure that supports sustainable development and creates opportunities for residents.

Speaking at the opening of the upgraded Ceres 11kV Substation, a R25 million investment, Minister Bredell said reliable infrastructure remains the foundation of thriving communities and local economies.

"The investment in this substation demonstrates Witzenberg Municipality's commitment to planning for growth, maintaining critical infrastructure and providing reliable services to residents and businesses." 

Executive Mayor Trevor Abrahams thanked Minister Bredell and the Western Cape Department of Local Government for their continued support to municipalities.

"We are grateful for Minister Bredell's visit and for the ongoing support provided by the Western Cape Government. Strong partnerships between local and provincial government are essential to delivering services, driving development and creating opportunities for our communities. Today's visit highlights what can be achieved when we work together towards a shared vision for growth and improved service delivery."

Minister Bredell congratulated the municipal leadership, officials, engineers and contractors involved in delivering the various projects and reaffirmed the importance of continued investment in municipal infrastructure to support future growth and economic development.
