CDWP Policy roadshow draws strong attendance in Cape Winelands District
Today, the Department of Public Service and Administration, in collaboration with the Community Development Workers Programme (CDWP) in the Western Cape, hosted a successful Policy Roadshow today at the University of Stellenbosch’s Ukwanda Campus in Worcester, Cape Winelands District Municipality.
The event formed part of a national initiative to engage stakeholders around the evolving policy landscape that supports the CDWP’s mission to enhance service delivery at the grassroots level.
The Cape Winelands session was well attended by Community Development Workers and Local Government Representatives. The event saw active participation and robust engagement, with attendees contributing insights and raising challenges from the field.
The session provided a vital platform to:
- Highlight the achievements and on-the-ground experiences of Community Development Workers (CDWs),
- Encourage dialogue on improving service coordination and responsiveness,
- Inform the development of more inclusive and community-driven public service models.
“The turnout and level of engagement we saw today reflect a deep commitment to building a more responsive and accountable public service,” said Mr Heinrich Magerman Director Director: Community Development Worker Programme of Local Government. “We are encouraged by the passion and dedication of CDWs and the communities they serve.”
This roadshow is one of several being held across the country to ensure that the voices of frontline workers and citizens inform the policy direction of the CDWP.
