Reopening date of Bainskloof Pass announced

MR 201 (Bainskloof Pass section) sustained significant flood damage and had to be fully closed

Thanks to the hard work by the Department of Infrastructure’s Transport Infrastructure Branch and their partners the repairs have reached a stage where it can be partially reopened 

Bainskloof Pass will be reopened to traffic on Friday, 10 July 2026 under traffic accommodation.

Please factor in additional travel time.

All existing restrictions on the pass with regards to heavy motor vehicles remain in place.
