R324 Cango Caves Roads Update

Cango Caves

C1321.02 emergency flood damage repairs to TR75/2 near KM 24 (R324 Cango Caves Roads)

As of late Friday, 3 July 2026; the rockfall debris were removed from the roadway. We thank all teams on the ground for their hard work and sacrifice.

This creates the illusion that the roadway is safe for public use as the roadway has been cleared. This is unfortunately not the case, due to damage to the roadway and the remaining high risk of future rockfall events.

As such, the roadway remains closed as it is not safe for public use. Our teams remain hard at work on the ground to stabilise the rockslope while repairing/preparing the road surface for the reopening of the road.

Depending further geotechnical specialist assessments, weather and site conditions; we hope to reopen the road safely, and without any further closures, under stop/go control by Friday, 10 July 2026.

We apologise for the inconvenience and we thank our partners and public for their understanding under these uncertain circumstances.
