On Wednesday, 5 August 2026, Western Cape Minister of Infrastructure Tertuis Simmers will officially launch the Welmoed Housing Development.

The sod-turning ceremony marks the start of the Welmoed Housing Development which will deliver nearly 3 300 housing opportunities in the first phase. At a total estimated cost of R1.2 billion, the full development is set to yield 8 000 housing opportunities by 2040.
